Our first step

Finally, after all these years of just talking about it, I actually did it! That was the most nervous point of my life. Preparing for this was a torture, so much so, I have to lie a lot to her and we even had small quarrels during this period of me hiding the surprise. Yes, I have seen myself grown. I am no longer the kind of guy who is not stable, flinging around anymore. I know that by making this decision, I had thought about it plenty of time and as I bought the precious, things became clearer. I had such peace in doing this because I know she is the one that I am going to walk together for the rest of our life and God had made it possible. Thank you Lord. After somuch struggles we had together, seeing her from being my good friend, to become my lover and then, brother and sister in Christ. The growth was awesome. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to love and cherish you.

My first Marathon

The great night started of with a carbo overloading session to have energy for the run. I had some yummy japanese rice and ramen for lunch and pizza for dinner. It's really full!
Yup. Before the race. Pose on the poster. Don't know why I slant together with the poster. haha.

The orange color tag is called a D-Tag. It is used to track my timing when I cross the starting lines, and crossing the finishing line. Dog Tag. hahaha...
One more pose with proper attire for the run!
Finished the run! Am glad. Really glad and happy. 5 hours 52 mins is not a bad timing for a first timer. B, I told you i will get the finisher medal for you! hihi...
Me and Puay Gaik (super woman!) finishes the race on the podium.
Mission accomplished. Goal achieved! Resolution kept!
I ran the race, I finished the race, and I have kept the FAITH! Praise God!

My First ever Marathon...in 10days time

This is the moment that I have been waiting for. 42.5km, 11:59pm, 30th May,2009, Singapore.
Yes, this is it. This is what I have been training for. By hook or by crook, I MUST get the finisher medal and finish below 6hours.
Looking back in December,2008. I have challenged myself to run a marathon. See that kennysia[dot]com also can finish a marathon, that gives me additional reason to run the race as well. But right now, it's personal. It's more to challenging myself to finish the race, to keep the faith. Just as I have walked my Christian life for so long, often a times, when I fell, i took a very long time to recover. And I need external inspiration to recover. I gave up most of the time.
Running this marathon, it is not so much of on my physical strength but the mental strength. Thank God, I have help! The Holy Spirit. He is going to be with me while I am running. He is going to give me a song. A song that lift me up when I run.
This month is also the month of prayer. Praying for the nation. Malaysia needs prayer. I know, I alone won't make a different, but I also know that I too CAN make a different but standing in the gap for my country, Malaysia. (though Ill be in Singapore). So, i do hope that whoever is reading this blog, do pray with me together as I run the race.
Singapore, here I come!

In memory of Po Po

I remembered how I was introduce to you. 'Alex' - You called my name with a Chinese accent. You know that you are always special to me, even though we are not blood related. I was introduced as a friend by your beloved grand daughter. But deep inside you already know that I was more than a friend to you beloved Mabel. You kept it to yourself. Every time, when I visited you, when I chat with you, you are always willing to talk to me, share to me. I want you to know that, I have already treated you as my own grandma. I am so glad you remembered me, asked of me every time your Mabel visits you. I am glad. I am very happy. To know that you fell down for the 2nd time, it really broke my heart. I wish I could do more. I wish I could carry you, lift you up. I wish,...,I was there. Po, you have a strong heart. A fighter's heart. You never give up. You never fail to protect. Though there are times, when you are not happy, you grumbled out. We understood your pain. Forgive us for not being able to do anything. Po, I hope your soul will find rest in the Lord. For there is no more pain and suffering.
I hope to see you walk again, being joyful and cheerful. I just want to let you know, you are and will always be in our memory.

1931 - 2009: In memory of Po Po.

My Planning in Johannesburg

YES, I am going to Johannesburg soon!
The planning for the trip is really tough. Though the air ticket and the accomodations are provided, I still ened to plan the tour which is not cheap. Must find a cheap one!
Plans:
Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve. (This is the place where you can take picture and touch the cubs)
Gold Reef City - plan to go their ourself without a guide. Option - public transport (they say it is worst then KL) or Drive there. I'm looking at GPS. Anyone is using a GPS?
Sun City & a nearby Nature Reserve - This one is expensive. About RM400 perpax. Not too sure whether want to go or not.
Soweto - Downtown of Johannesburg. If want to go, I need to get a tour as this will be the most dangerous place to go. The World Cup stadiums are nearby this place. How ah?

more to come....

I had Peri delicious lunch in Nandos

25th March 09 is a day of surprise. I met up with the staff of Nandos, including their CEO and COO to have luncheon with them in their main office. To my surprise, its in Nandos Chinatown!
Ms. Marc was indeed a very humble person, and bubbly. She treats her staff really good! I really admired her character. I remember reading about how Nandos was founded in Malaysia by her when she opened up her first restaurant in Bangsar. I just got to know the one in Bangsar has since move on. The one in Bangsar Village 1 is a new one. Thats one of my favourite restaurant to visit.

I thanked God for blessing me through Nandos Malaysia ,giving me the opportunity to visit the land where Nandos is founded. You are wrong, it's not in Portugal. It's in South Africa!!!
Here I would like to extend my gratitude to Ms Marc, Ms Annie, Shi Ling, Melissa, and the rest of the marketing team on the lunch that day. You all have served us very well as if we are part of you all during the luncheon. Mum and I loved the Extra-Hot Peri Chicken with the Peri-Starters!!! They are my favourite dishes.

But I guess, to be able to meet up with one of the daring person in Malaysia who brought Nandos to Malaysia, expanded it and made it a family hang out place. I'm grateful for your fellowship and food, not forgetting the trip :)

I hope our paths will cross again! Thanks again for every thing :) Take care

18th October part 1

The events of 18th October 2008 part 1
This was taken at 2AM. I can tell you, it was like SNOWING! I wish it was. hihi....
Not so clear...ya. Nvm,this was taken at 6AM. Yup. Look at the road. Its icy!The roads are coated with a layer of ice due to the rain from yesterday.
Today is Saturday but we still need to work...sort of. I don't mind cos its another reason to go out! So, setup my hair and ready to roll out! :)
7AM. oOo....oOo Snow ah Snow, where art thou?
After breakfast, ready to go on our rented car. It's really really cold.
Told you....This was the coolest. I really salute the car. It comes with a temperature sensor and will tune to the temperature you want in the car.
Misty...visibility is low....and it is FUN!  Will be back for more cos after work, we want to town.

17th October 2008

The events of 17th October 2008
For the first time in my life, I don't want to get soaked in the rain. It was freezing cold, just like pouring ice water on you after you just came out from the bathroom. The temperature dropped to 8 degrees. Haha,..can't blame the weather because weather.yahoo.com already warned me about this. haha.
When it is raining, it's really gloomy here. Almost the whole day was gloomy.
Mercator Center is 'the' hypermart cum supermart cum convinient store...except that it doesn't open 24-7, closes after 8PM and on Sundays. Mercator Center is everywhere in Slovenia. This is their main grocery shopping center.
This is our client's office.
Taken after work. Freezing cold, about 4 degrees. We are the last to chow.
Well, you guess it right, we went to Venezia again and this time, we had Galileo Pizza. (Salmon pizza). Nice but a bit too salty. Very salty. haha

16th of October

The event of the day for 16th October 2008
Sunrise! 6AM! Jet lag....that's why I woke up at 4AM.

This is where we will be staying. Penzion Zbilje. Penzion means "Guesthouse". Zbilje is the town name.
Our room.I sleep at the corner, near the window.....chilling

This is where I blog.
Heater but we never turned on...Macho man don't turned on heater.

Morning walk to the nearby lake...Swan Lake.
This is my first encounter with a swan. It was so cold...ears and finger pain...about 13 degree in the morning and this swan swam so gracefully in the water....crazy.
Well, sometimes I think we are poorly fed in Malaysia. This is our breakfast provided by the hotel. SUPERB!
Dinner time at Venezia, one of the famous Pizza-inn in town.

We ordered 1 Large Pizza, and have it divided into 2. This is full. This is Venezia pizza.

Nothing isn't good without beer. Union beer, Slovenia local beer. And next to it is Cockta, Slovenian local Coca-Cola. Well, older generation of Slovenians are still anti-Capitalist. They hate Coca-Cola. Cockta is good as it doesn't contain any caffeine.

Hehe.. me enjoying my beer. Dinner was Euro 10.90 for 2 person. Budgeted. keke..

We went to the same place. This time we ordered, Household Pizza. Darn. It's SUPERB! I had Union as well . Wahhaha... It's Euro 12 for 2 pax.
No more pizza when I am home.

My first Europe trip

Well, here I am in Slovenia, a country of beautiful terrain and without the letter 'y' and when the letter 'j' is presence, it is pronounced as 'y' or 'i'. hihi..

Now i know why there are people who rather pay more to NOT do transit. I have been travelling for almost 20 hours! Dono why, probably its the excitement...i don feel tired at all..at least not until I reach my hostel.

I really want to thank my buddies n my another half for coming to send me off. You all meant a lot to me. I've been thinkg alot about you all on the plane. If without you all, what am I? Making small meals for you all is just a small gesture to thank you all for the many big things you have made impact in my life. Thank you frens.

Love you ,Bee... from TorToise

The journey (KL to Slovenia)

KL - Singapore. B777 flight-SQ119. 9:50PM till 1045PM. It has a big toilet. haha. They even have an in flight entertainment system for short distance travel!

Singapore - London. A380!flight SQ322. 11:30PM(Sing time) till 6:30AM (UK time)
We rush like a mad man!First time inside Changi airport. Rushing from T1 to T3. The checks are very straight. We even have to take out our laptops. In EU, it was worst. Will blog more abt this later.

Airbus! Can u imagine...I am sitting on the Upperdeck. Not crowded at all! But I think the seats are too small for me. hihi... The air stewardess there are so nice,..well not exactly very beautiful but ok...tidy and pleasant, not too mention...matured.Air plane food is serious food. After flying for a while, we have our supper. Beef fillet with port wine sauce, roasted assorted vegies and potatoes. Too delicious until I forgot to taake a pix on it. Haha... Medium done on the beef. It goes well with white wine too...Trauma with red wine d, esp from the plane one. Haha...secret.
Had some nuts to go with my white wine again. ahaha...

I stayed up almost the whole journey,..managed to watch 3 movies. haha...
The journey is quite bouncy. but nonetheless, praise God, we safely made it.

We had our 'light' breakfast 2 hours before we touch down in London. Steamed eggs with hollandaise, bacon and hash brown potato. It was suppose to be light...but...the bacon is really tempting. darn. I wish I had more. Welcome to the bacon country...UK! Almost EVERYTHING we eat got ham in it.

Buying ticket for the coach to go to Stansted Airport (LCCT of UK). The journey is far! Estimate around 1hr 45min to 2 hrs. THis LCCT flies to other european countries too so it is a good bargain if you can book early.
Double Decker,...Double Decker... the real THING!

Easy Jet Counter. The EU checks are very strict. I have to take out my belt, my boots, my laptop to let them check. Woo... Also, go to WHSmith shop...I wanted to drink water but i got no change...so, I bought The Daily Telegraph for 0.90 pence and get a 750ml water (1.35pound) free. wahaha...thats the cheapest.
This metal thingy is very canggih-fied. Not only can it stablized by just touch on the tip of each metal, it also rotates. Its taken from Stansted Airport. Tips: When u are there in Stansted, just go to inside the departure hall first. Inside got plenty of food and stores.

Welcome to Slovenia. This is the airport. I don't understand a thing there. It is so foreign to me. The journey took about 2 hours but we have to add 1 hr extra when reach. 1300 flight, reaching Ljubljana 1600.

I really got confused with time... its like playing time. whaha.... i lost count how many hours i have been travelling.

Touchdown in Heathrow airport at 6:30AM.(2:30PM Malaysia time). PG...u are right...when they look at skinny asian like me and my colleagues, they tot we are trying to overstay and i had a tough time explaining that im just passing by ur country to go to another country, so get ur butt out of my way. RUDE. This immigrant officer, she is really rude..probably to asians. nonetheless...SABAR!

I cant believe myself...IM in UK!The land whre the red double decker and the black. classico taxi roam the city. Well, too bad, we are just passing by this place. Immediately, we took a coach to Stansted Airport, UK LCCT. The journey on the coach is about 1hr 45min. Well, I think Malaysian time actually came from London. Not punctual at all. haha. We saw a lot of delays but thank God, ours are punctual. 9AM reaching Stansted about 1045AM. We rush to check in our bags.

Operation Love

Do you wish to turn back time and ammend your mistakes in the past?Everyone who regrets now did think of it.
Recently I have watched a drama series on proposal and wedding. A Japanese series called Operation Love. Its about a guy who regretted not telling this girl who is going to get married that he had always love her. This guy was sent back to the past to correct his mistakes. The story goes on.
Have you ever regretted not telling someone you love in your life that you love them very much? I had.
Love and embrace them each and everyday without living a life regretful afterwards.

Money that was spent like water (part 2)

and doze off on the sofa...ZZzz.Call up aniu for lunch later but he is still sleeping..hihih.... so I also doze off again...Approx 12PM, he called and we met up for lunch. Woh,...he replace his Saga with MyVi SE. Canggih....Brought me to Pan Mee under the tree...haha..

Pan Mee, Rojak and Ling Teh - Aniu belanja....

We went to Queensbay Mall....had some men's talk on the way...scouting and checking out Penang girls. wakakakka... and had my favourite Hokkaido Ice Cream before we leave QB Mall.

Hokkaido Ice Cream for 2 pax - RM10.80. (Too bad, those girls aren't from Hokkaido )

Get my bike at around 3.30PM...was really rushing against time as the KTW B/W closes at 5PM! Rush thru the Penang Bridge , the Highway and the toll and with the direction Aniu gave me, I reached the KTM B/W by 4.15PM! That was close...

Motorbike shipment - RM88.50. (Pain in the @$$)

Then walked over to get the first bus to Ipoh ...Saw Kurnia Bestari but quickly shun it and pretend I didn't see it at all. Bad experience with them...Bought Sri Maju bus to Ipoh .

Sri Maju B/W - Ipoh (5.30PM) - RM10.70

Ok, I did some stupid thing here. The weather is hot and humid and dusty in the B/W bus station. Horrid... I am only thinking of I think... Air Con! Looking around but there's no KFC, McD or any shopping complex nearby! Crap.. So I walked further down to the main road...and finally found 7-11! I was so thrill that I opened the fridge several time pretending to choose my drinks. hhahah... bought one lousy drink

Green Tea with Honey and Tissue Paper - RM3.40

Imagine, I lepak there for about 10min and the sales person inside thought I wanted to do something funny inside..(Imagine carrying a big bag and holding a crash helmet) haha... I felt uncomfortable being looked like that, I finally chow and go back to the station...Boarded the bus at 5.30PM sharp! Unbelievable punctual!
Chatted in the bus with a USM student...young...and naive. hahaha... Nah...no chemistry....
haha.. mum and sis picked me up in Sri Maju station before we head to eat Taugeh Chicken

Taugeh Chicken - RM 32

That's my trip from KL - Penang - Butterworth - Ipoh - Kampar on Saturday (02/08/08).

Imagine I have been traveling across 3 states in just the span of 24 hours! Tired... Exhausted!
Lepaked at home the following 2 days had durians...loads of durians...and mum home cook food... for the first time, i didn't eat out in Kampar! Hahaha....
These are the money spent on the following 2 days!

Dental care (Scaling and Tampal) - RM95 (Eerie...but my teeth are clean!)
Helmet face shield - RM10
Edaran Kampar - KL (2.30PM) - RM22 for 2pax

Back in KL on the 4th of August, stopped at the Pasar Seni area..was also rushing to the KTM KL to get my bike before they charged me additional RM6 for late reception of bike. Got the bike and ADV had a first taste of KL life after so long. hihi...
Went back to Taman Desa and pump petrol. Imagine...I am using my credit card to pump a 2.73L petrol. Haha... how much is that? hihi...bet the petrol owner will curse me. haha..

Petrol - RM7.37
Helmet and Number Plat - RM 39
AEN service - RM100 (This is killer...changed spark plug, air filter and oil filter. I use ELF engine oil which I supply it. ahahha)

So, I hope i can get back my ROI by riding my bike to work every day!

Money spent like water

Last weekend, I spent quite a lot on things that was neccesary and also important but can be done later. Here goes the listing:

Plusliner KL - Penang (11:59PM Fri) - RM26.80

Reached Penang about 5.00AM in Sg Nibong Station. It was dark but thank God, there's one stall opened...lepaked for 30mins before making the decision to walk to Pelita Square (I think).

Was hoping for a Cyber Cafe to be operating 24hours..and there's really one there! Kewl! Had breakfast in Pelita before going to Infinity (Cybercafe). Actually, the main purpose for me to be there is to sleep with air con. hahah...

Breakfast in Pelita - RM3.40

Cyber cafe - RM2 (good one if u want to rest with aircon)

Pooi Choong had promised to fetch me from the Station at 7AM but i really don want to disturb his sleep so I just walk over to Pekaka... Pekaka really reminds me a lot of my days in Penang...particularly when Che is still staying there...Ooo miss Che Che pulak.

Went inside the apartment...nothing much changes. My pile of stuff are still there... wahahaha...

Now, the funny part is here... both Pooi Choong and I decided we go and check out my motor (this is the main purpose of coming back to Penang). From far, it seems okay but when we try to start the motor...its not working! So we decided to push it to the workshop nearby. JAM! The front wheel is JAM! The bearing is not working! Thank God, it is just 1 wheel. So what we do was, I pushed from the front wheel while Pooi Choong pull from the back wheel. Super duper exhausted! Thank you PC! Besto housemate!

talk talk talk sing sing song with the workshop man...haha... according to the workshopman, if the engine jam, don't expect to take it today... phew...only the carburater got jam. That one also, he'll need until 4PM to finish it. I was a bit afraid as I have budgeted my time to get this motor sent over to KL by today..

Cost of reparing motor - RM179.50 (Choked me abit)

So after sending my bike to the workshop, i called up Hooi Ling...for breakfast. We went supertanker. It was so different. I had some Penang food...

Chee Cheong Fun - RM1.20

Chao Kuey Tiow and Nescafe Ais - Hooi Ling belanja..

I can actually eat more but thanks to the breakfast in Pelita...

So, since Hooi Ling got to rush back to her hometown, I got to spend my time in the apartment myself as Pooi Choong got Call of Duty from his gf. hahaha....

The star - RM1.50

Read newspaper in the apartment (continue part 2)

Zero Hours are driving me crazy...

For unknown reason, I just can't load pix here in blogspot. Mm.. nvm. Nonetheless...Generals: Zero Hours is killing me...
Man...I'm so addicted to it now... The BBF have taken this as a weekly activities...which could drag till late nights/wee hours in the morning. Argh... imagine chipping money to my addiction... i wonder is it the same 'addiction' feeling like those who are addicted to ... alcohol, ONS, ..?
I wonder....
-Alex is wondering what should he do tonight to curb his addiction... Reading a book?-
