Pentacost Sunday (sermon 11th May 2008)

As we celebrate Mother's Day on he 11th of May, we also remember the events that happenned 10 days after Jesus was taken to heaven. We remember the 120 followers of Jesus Christ, heeded the advice from the Lord, waiting faithfully with prayer upon the gift of the Holy Spirit to come down to them.
Yes, a miracle happen. The works of the Holy Spirit amongst the 120 followers and disciples of Jesus Christ-received the baptism of Fire! The same day is also the Harvest day in Jerusalem. Remember that Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew speaks of commisioning the disciples to reach all throught Samaria, Galilee, Asia and the whole world? It has to be happen on the same day! All around Asia and the known world that time, people gathered in Jerusalem for this Harvest festival, witnesses the power and the work of the Holy spirit, heard the Good News in their own native language (other than Greek which was the common language that time). Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, putting his shame aside (He denied Jesus 3 times), declared the same Jesus whom the Jews crucified, had risen, conquered death, ascended to heaven and will come back again! He, with the conviction of the Holy Spirit, asking the 'people from the whole world' to repent and be baptized for the forgiveness of sin. Speak of revival! 3000 souls were saved! Halleluyah.
11th May is also the Global Prayer Day. As I look deeper in this, I found that I have a purpose in my life to move on.
We need Revival in our lives, in the town we lived in, in the country we serve as a citizen. Are we waiting for the BIG HARVEST? then, commit yourself into prayer. commit yourself into reading the word of the Lord. commit yourself to the Lord.
Revival is a prayer away. Your townsmen needs you. Your country needs prayer.
Life is not just ourselves. I, me, mine. It's about sharing the good news, just like Peter.
